First post.
Hi everybody! Tis’ be my first time blogging and all, so I’m a still a newb, yeah. Don’t come down too harsh on me if I made any mistake or what not, and advice(s) will always be helpful.
The reason I decided to start a blog despite being hesitant for a long time will be to upload and showcase my work during my period in TOA, be it drawings, designs, photography etc. So in some sense of speaking, this is kinda like my personal art blog, though I may decide to post in some random insanity of my daily quirkiness should I feel obligated to do so.
For those of you whom know me, I come from The One Academy and is currently taking a Diploma in Advertising and Graphic Design. I’m currently in my 2nd year 2nd sem, and this sem we’re required to take photography as a subject.
For the first week and assignment, we were taught about the mechanics of DSLR, mainly emphasizing on aperture first. Aperture is the function to regulate DoF (Depth of Field) as its main appeal, besides the fact that it regulates exposure along with shutter speed and ISO value. We were required to take 6 shots consisting of F-stops which is F3.5/4.0, F5.6, F8, F11, F16 and F22. Without further ado, my results are as follow:

F22.

F16.

F11.

F8.

F5.6

F4.0
Notice as F-stop decreases, the “bokeh”/dab dab/blurring effect is more prominent across non-focused areas. This my friends, is the beauty of aperture control.
Another set of photos:

Bijin model dipinjam (borrowed) from my friend Keith. Man, she sure is photogenic alright
My friend Keith leeched my 500D since he doesn’t own one yet, and his results are as following:

His shots are all over the place as well as having sesat apertures coming in, so I handpicked 1 from each non-sesat apertures and toss them all in here. Forgive me for being lazy to sort them according to aperture values.
A few more random shots by me:

I like this shot. Nice composition.

At the first glance Mr. Keith may appear to be your typical emo wannabe…

…but he’s actually an exponent in the lost kung-fu of the sacred crane techniques!!1 Who would’ve thought?
Why must I be the one with the camera? Bawwwww (/kidding)

More random insanity.
She can’t decide her gender (Hence the concept of this shot. …ZOMG TRAP??!). Purely suggested by her.
After we had so much fun ransacking and thrashed and camwhored the hell outta other people’s building, we decided to settle on some mamak stall. More shots to come:
Deep thoughts. Wonder what’s in her mind (Indecisive upon what to order? Crunching calories in her brain? Tak tau lah. Who knows what goes into the mind of females.)
Spontaneous shot is still the best. But meh, DSLR sure takes a bit of fidgeting to get stuffs right. And I dare not risk AF focusing on something else when the F-stop is only 4.0, especially in spot metering mode. By the time you’re done fidgeting with them, it’s oTL, shot gone. FFFFFFFF-
So yeah, that was it for today, had lots of fun, she liked my shots of her with the *cough*pole*cough* (I REFUSE TO CALL IT A LAMP POST!) A LOT and goes hyper everytime she sees it
. She’s happy, I’m happy. At least I didn’t phailed my model as a photographer especially when its a beautiful model, or else I’ll have to kill myself for this cardinal sin. Till next time people.
Disclaimer: No Photoshop touch-ups have been used in the process since its evil and forbidden by our photography lecturer. Oh shucks.
